Who we are
WE BELIEVE IN
Chillus started with a simple idea, that everyone deserves access to the things that make life worth living. Surf. Art. Music. Community.
Our story
BORN FROM THE COMMUNITY
The idea behind Chillus goes back decades, to a music festival once planned in memory of a young girl from our community, with hopes that something good could come from something hard. That idea didn't play out the way we hoped, but it planted something that never left us.
Years later, we were set to finally run events for good causes with our mate Dale Miranda, until COVID hit and derailed those plans. Instead, Chillus began as COVID relief, supporting people doing it tough through the pandemic. From there, it grew into what it is today: free surf, art and music programs for people facing disadvantage, funded by community-driven events.
Tragically, Dale passed away before he got to see it through, but the idea lives on in what Chillus has become.
What drives us
OUR MISSION
To remove barriers and create genuine belonging, through surf, art, music, and the power of community.
Inclusion
Our programs are free and open to everyone facing disadvantage. No means test, no paperwork, just show up.
Authenticity
We're not a corporate charity. We're people who care, doing the work ourselves, in our own community.
Impact
We measure success in changed lives, not metrics. Every person who finds their confidence here matters.
Community
We believe the community is both the solution and the beneficiary. We fund it together, and we all benefit.
Beyond Sydney
GROWING HOPE ABROAD
Our work doesn't stop at the Australian coastline. We seed-fund small farming projects in Cambodia, giving communities the tools, knowledge, and support to grow their own food and income. It's the same philosophy: remove the barrier, trust the people, watch what happens.
